Beating just one forest fire in Canada takes a team of up to 360 men and women using helicopters, amphibious planes and giant caterpillar tractors for fire-engines. Peter had a narrow escape when he joined the crew trying to control a massive 160,000 acres of charred and blazing timber.

The Great Stink! In 1858 the stench from the River Thames was so disgusting that MPs had to abandon the Houses of Parliament. The result was a reconstruction of London's drains and sewers - many of which are still in use today. Simon goes underground to report.

'Lady Sarah Greene' Twenty-five years ago the Queen decreed the end of the Presentation Parties. For nearly 250 years young girls had worn the regulation uniform of long white dress, six-foot train, and three ostrich feathers as they were presented at court and curtsyed to the King and Queen.
