Mike James represents a young woman dying of AIDS who is charging her HIV positive ex-boyfriend with murder. Briggs' key witness turns out to have multiple personalities. Jo Ann worries that her relationship with Peter will compromise her career.

Julie Janovich starts a romance with Frank Mirelli, whom she meets while prosecuting a Skinhead. Peter Bauer goes up against Searls on a juvenile death penalty case. And Linda Bauer finds her dream apartment, but must go before the co-op board.

Mike James is in the hot seat when he tries to prosecute a woman who killed her ex-husband and his new wife. Jesse deals with a gang related problem at her daughter's school, and Searls has a steamy affair with the daughter of a high-ranking judge.

Linda and Julie interlock on a case involving a man they absolutely know is guilty, but they have trouble proving it. Meanwhile, Mike enters the dating pool with Maggie, and Peter defends a mad man who has admitted to committing a brutal murder.

Eugene resigns and intends to run against Arnold for the office of District Attorney. Searls continues to be torn between his ambition and keeping his promise to a witness. Meanwhile, old wounds are re-opened for Mike when Delia's murderer is found.
