Flying Kiwi - Season 1 (1980)

Professor Larry Cross gets back with his children, Pete and Deb to their birthplace, New Zealand, after many years in England. But this proves to be the start of a family feud, starting with Larry being arrested at the airport.

Professor Cross investigates the origins of a Maori amulet named The Tiki of Tamahou.

Strange things happen to the people who have got the Tiki.

A widow is threatened with eviction, and Professor Cross tries to help.

Debbie wants her brother as crew in the sailing series, but the cheating soon starts, with their powerful uncle James joining in.

Pete and his pal Hone take their hang-gliders to the cliffs above the beach. At the same time, their uncle James Marriott's surveyors are at work in this nature reserve. Pete's kite crashes into the cliff-face.

Debbie and Hone go to one of New Zealand's famous black-sand beaches to catch the waves while Pete joins the Beach ranger who has a different catch on his mind - poachers.

Marriott only has feelings of bitterness for his relatives, the Cross family. But for Pete, he has tempting plans. Miriana's ex-fiance reappears in her life and Hone wants to join an outlaw motorbike gang.

Professor Cross has been offered a post at Cambridge and it looks as if things will not be the same for the family now. Meanwhile, an unexpected threat arises.

Tapou Maori island is sacred, and an ancient phantom war canoe has been sighted on the lake.

A canoe with a skeleton on the prow keeps appearing from the mists and guys in Maori-style dress spook the locality. Pete is abducted by them and revealed as a convert to the cause when the masks are all pulled off.

Pete investigates when two of his horses who are constant companions begin behaving like strangers.

Pete avails of The Flying Kiwi to disappear from home. But when no-one knows where you are, no-one can help you if you get into trouble.

A deadly, infectious disease is plaguing the animals around while the Marriot Research Laboratory is trying to find an antibiotic that will arrest the disease.

James Marriott intends to make another fortune from his old family estate. He plans to sell part of his estate at a profit.

Miriana buys a used car at a cheap price, which surprises everyone in the family.

Professor Cross believes he has stumbled upon Du Fresne's bottle, a historical relic which recount the battle between the Maori and the French.

While Professor Cross is away at a conference in San Francisco, Pete and Hone get busy on the house. Deb prefers to dabble in spirits.

Steve seems busy with a charity fund and convinces Pete to sit for the university's first year examination for him.

Professor Cross' favorite wine comes from a small vineyard, which must be closed.

A spate of letter-bombs puzzles the police. And lawyer Ratu Rewiri is as puzzled as they are.

Pete and Hone fly their radio-controlled model of a First World War airplane and find the past catching up with the present.
