Defense - Season 1 (2003)

Defense Attorney Mikael Frank is called to Western Prison, where 17-year-old Tobias is sitting, charged with attempted killing of his father-in-law. The young man strongly denies guilt and explains that a random drug addict fired the hunting rifle - five times. The father-in-law is totally invalid and Mikael Frank gets his case for defending Tobias. The colleagues at the law firm Frank & Christensen doubt that star lawyer Mikael Frank can get the young man acquitted, but then Patrik Larsen appears. He has just been tested and wants to have a job with his former defender. Patrik speaks of an unauthorized investigation into the drug environment in an attempt to find the right perpetrator and at the same time win the lawyers' trust. Meanwhile, in the Eastern District Court, Mikael Frank ranks the tragic story of Tobias' family.

Things get stirred up at Frank and Christensen as one employee initiates a conflicting relationship with a client and an Olympic lightweight rower is charged with murder of an East German man found in his car needs legal assistance.

Defending the accused of his former colleague's murder against his own mistress, CC finds himself in a very personal and complicated case.

Rebecca enters a fight over office space with newly employed controversial lawyer Leo whilst defending a police officer accused of a lesbian plot.

Mikael Frank struggles to acquit a weak-minded Lollandian as the health of both the accused's and his own father complicate the case further.

Malene gets personally involved in the case of a mother accused of attempting to murder her daughter. Leo likewise in the case of child molestation accusation against a children's author.

Mikael Frank is having a difficult time defending an accused private of The Royal Life Guards due to his own past at said regiment. Elsewhere Rebecca and Leo bond on a road trip, gathering evidence to save her uncle.

In order to prove to her colleagues that she is tough enough for the job, Malene decides to have a conductor accused of rape acquitted.

CC struggles with a kindergarten strike, his love affair and defending a professor of pathology while Rebecca and Leo defend two outlaw motorcycle gang members charged with murder.

With CC on a cruise, the firm relies on Michael and Leo to handle the cases. Michael gets romantically involved with his client in a case in which his own assistant is a witness and Leo thinks his client might have abused him as a child.
