Nele and Gianni have been married for ten years and their marriage has grown stagnant. With the help of a therapist, they decide to embark on a mission to add a little spark back into their sex lives, even if it means taking some big chances.

Nele and Gianni open up during couples therapy and reveals their hidden sexual desires. But, they find that they are on complete opposite sides of the spectrum when it comes to life goals; with one focused on career and the other on family.

Gianni and Nele’s arguments over having children results in separate therapy sessions. Meanwhile, Heinz organizes a camping trip in which everyone reveals their most intimate confessions; a momentous accident turns everything around.

As Nele’s career picks up steam, she talks to Gianni about opening up their relationship. However, when Gianni finds out who she wants to sleep with, his jealousy gets in the way. Meanwhile, a tragic accidental death affects the group of friends.

Nele grows impatient as her attempts to get pregnant with Gianni prove fruitless. She decides that what she really wants is sex -- with other men. Meanwhile, Heinz and Monika’s arguments about Timo lead to suspicions about his paternity.

At dinner, Nele and Gianni reveal to their circle of friends that they’ve decided to open up their relationship. With strict ground rules set, they embark on sexual trysts with new people, but find they may have underestimated their own emotions.

On the outside, Nele and Gianni appear to be enjoying their open relationship. However, on the inside, their jealousy grows, especially when Gianni enters into a relationship with his new boss. Meanwhile, Monika explores what attracts men to brothels.

Nele is ashamed of the emotional chaos she’s caused through her love affair with Timo, Gianni feels too old for Gloria. With their last couples therapy approaching, Nele and Gianni have a big decision to make about the future of their marriage.
