Master storyteller Ricky Lee shares how empathy makes an effective writer. He explains how understanding our society and oneself allow each writer to know his characters inside and out -- which leads him to get a better grasp of their identities and the tales they have to tell.
3. Episode 3
The protagonist is the most important character in a story. Veteran writer Ricky Lee talks about what it takes to come up with a remarkable protagonist, and what it means to create this individual. From conflicts to motivations, learn how these characters take on a life of their own to be translated onto page by the writer.
4. Episode 4
Acclaimed Filipino writer Ricky Lee presents his class with the premise as a compass to guide the direction and flow of their stories. He talks aspiring writers through the process of identifying conflicts that keep characters from becoming whole and make them relatable to viewers. Meanwhile, Hulyong Manunulat starts telling his protagonist's tale.

Based on his personal experiences, he dives into the various frustrations that writers encounter while going through the creative process. The acclaimed writer also lays bare a more intimate subject and gives the two reasons why we tell stories in the first place.
