A mega disater hits Earth and California slips into the sea - predictions, courtesy of the "Mayans" that come true in 2012. Shades of the Great Flood done techno style (w... e know positively it won't happen again). Constant "edge of the seat will he make it" disaster scenes but the good guys win in the end. Predictable and incredulous but okay. Most any movie without sex & non-stop profanity today beats a lot of the also rans. Full Review

2012 takes the disaster movie -- once content simply to threaten the Earth with a comet, or blow up the White House -- to its natural conclusion, the literal end of the world.Full Review

There's something to be said for a formula picture done almost to perfection. In 2012, Emmerich gives you everything you expect, but gives it to you bigger.Full Review

The mother of all disaster movies (and the father, and the extended family) spends half an hour on ominous set-up scenes (scientists warn, strange events occur, prophets rant and of course a family is introduced) and then unleashes two hours of cataclysmic special events hammering the Earth relentlessly.Full Review

2012 isn't a bad movie that, out of sheer boredom, you might snicker at once or twice; it's a two-and-a-half hour laugh riot that plays on our expectations of the genre by anticipating and exceeding them.Full Review
