1 hr. 35 min.
One bleak winter during the Great Depression, city kid Rusty (George Perry) is sent to stay on his grandparents' (Jason Robards, Eva Marie Saint) Minnesota farm. He finds it hard adapting to rural life, and to the withering anger of his gruff grandfather, for whom Rusty is a painful memory of the son (Bryan Englund) who died in World War I. Grandfather and grandson are eventually brought together when they haul their family melodeon to the local church as a gift on Christmas morning.
