I have recommended this documentary to all the women and most of the men I have talked to since I saw it. I went in thinking it was just going to... nfirm my opinions of media manipulation but realized that I have not been immune to media suggestion, either. Bravo to the man who put this together and had the courage to be one man hoping to make change for the better. I hope its out on video by Christmas so I can give it as gifts, which it truly is to us. America the Beautiful should be seen by all women. It is mindboggling how the beauty and clothing industry is more concerned about making money in... change for destroying the self-esteem of girls and women with subliminal messages. It needs to be addressed and change needs to happen immediately. You will be changed forever by the information provided in the movie. As Ghandi said so eloquently, "Be the change you want to see in the world!" Full Review

Mostly succeeds in unmasking the flaws of fetishizing skin-deep beauty.Full Review
America the Beautiful carries a persuasive message, and is all the more effective because of the level tone that Roberts adopts.Full Review
Often insightful and more than a little depressing, this is a story that only gets uglier as it goes on.Full Review
Gerren's story is fascinating, but Roberts dilutes it by going off on tangents about unsafe cosmetics and phony plastic surgeons. Both topics need exploring - just not here. There's more than enough drama in Gerren's life.Full Review
Wide-ranging educational documentary attaches itself to the rise and fall of a 12-year-old fashion model, and indeed, its sincere, cautionary tone seems best suited to younger auds and small screen exposure.Full Review
