Life is not easy for Andy Chadakis (Norman Alden), a mentally impaired middle-aged man living in New York City, or for his immigrant parents. While he can be as gentle as a child, Andy, who previously worked on a ship, has the brute strength of a seasoned nautical man -- and one day, some barroom bullies egg him into a fight. At this point, his parents are already weighing different long-term options for their son, including whether to send him to an institution or leave the city altogether.
