Portman's portrait of an artist under siege is unmissable and unforgettable. So is the movie. You won't know what hit you. show more

It's excessive and psychologically imprecise, coarse where it should be refined and too much like a David Cronenberg horror movie in places where restraint and intellectual rigor are called for. show more

To induce a state of dread and mesmerize with beauty is a rare, paradoxical achievement. show more

Aronofsky blurs the line between reality and fantasy, turning the film into a gothic horror show that is fascinating and disappointing in equal measure. What's resplendently real, though, is the beauty of Ms. Portman's performance. She makes the whole lurid tale worthwhile. show more

Wild and woolly, the movie is a breathtaking head trip that hails from a long tradition of backstage melodramas: "42nd Street," "A Star Is Born," "All About Eve," and, yes, that kitschy '90s relic, "Showgirls." show more

Indeed, White Swan/Black Swan dynamics almost work, but the horror-movie nonsense drags everything down the rabbit hole of preposterousness. show more

For all its dazzling allure, Darren Aronofsky's Black Swan, a feverishly psycho thriller set in the hermetic world of classical ballet, proves a meaningless exercise in Grand Guignol exhibitionism. show more

Aronofsky isn't loose enough, or canny enough, to be in touch with its camp soul. show more

I didn\'t like it at first but by the second half I was liking it a bit more but when the movie ended I was stomped thinking it actually was a really good movie you just have to watch the whole thing to really know what\'s going on. Also, I didn\'t realize ballerina\'s often have issues like hers so that storyline puzzled me. Portman has always done a great job with the movies she\'s done. Loved the Starwars movie she did!

I was expecting a good movie, but omg this was amazing. Definitely takes psychological thriller to a whole new level. I loved it. It had me constantly being like \"wait! what just happened?\". Natalie Portman was amazing too, and she definitely deserved to win the academy award for her role. The only offsetting part of the movie is that every time you blink, she\'s masturbating again. Overall, however, the movie is amazing and is a movie that I\'m glad to watch over and over.

Probably the best movie I have seen in a long long time. Not a chick flick at all.

Natalie Portman was ravishing, stunning, believable, strong and fragile. Very up to this huge part. She as an aspiring Swan and then as the balck Swan was beguiling and formidable. A huge preformance. I was swept away.
