Coffee Date

Not Yet Rated| 1 hr. 34 min.

Plot Summary
Todd (Jonathan Bray) goes on a coffee date set up by his brother, but finds that he's the butt of a practical joke. The woman named Kelly he's supposed to meet is actually a gay man. As revenge, the pair pretend to be a real couple. The scope of the ruse widens when Todd's mother learns the news and goes out of her way to support her now out-of-the-closet son. While some of Todd's friends are surprised, others say they knew all along -- prompting Todd to wonder if maybe the joke is on him.

  • A likable, extremely goofy piece of fluff. show more

  • It's not earthshaking or life-changing, but it's cute, occasionally predictable and only requires ACTUAL idiots, like Barry, to act like idiots. As formula entertainment goes, that's a pretty sweet deal. show more

  • Writer-director Stewart Wade expanded his festival-circuit short film into a blobby, watery feature-length enterprise, unredeemed by its cast (though Sally Kirkland shows up as Todd's mom). show more
