    Carrie Rickey Philadelphia Inquirer

Think of the film from director Adam Salky and screenwriter David Brind as "Pretty in Pink" crossed with "Cruel Intentions." show more

    James Greenberg The Hollywood Reporter

A smart and well-observed entry in the genre, is a cut above the usual hijinks. show more

    V.A. Musetto New York Post

A high school coming-of-age film that dares to push the envelope. It doesn't always succeed, but that's not for lack of trying. show more

There’s one bright spot amid all the awkward groping and abundant onscreen texting, and his name is Zach Gilford. show more

Dare, a sweetly sexed-up high school triangle movie, is like a John Hughes comedy trying to pass itself off as ''transgressive.'' show more

This "Cruel Intentions"-style cesspool of teenage hanky-panky may be more scandalous than its chaste Disney counterpart, but that doesn't necessarily make it any more authentic. show more

Zach Gilford's game performance is still no match for the film's catalog of easy ironies, awkward framings, and advice on how to play Blanche DuBois. show more

Ok what makes a movie good for me? Characters I care about. A storyline that engages me. Actors I want to watch. Scenes that make compell me to look at what is going on. Music that adds interesting sometimes surprising notes to the action. I want to learn things about people and leave feeling I'm glad I saw and heard and experienced that...and might even want to go again. That's why I liked Dare.
