I believe you're missing something here... This is a Tim Burton film. Tim Burton movies are creepy and a lot of them are for kids. I saw Nightmare Before Xmas in theaters when I was 10. I hated it. I'm not a huge Tim Burton fan, either. But frankly, Frankenweenie is quite the masterpiece.
