  • Pitt is tremendous in the role, a conscience detectable even in Wardaddy's blinkered gaze. But it's Lerman who anchors the film with a shattering, unforgettable portrayal of corrupted innocence. Fury means to grab us hard from the first scene and never let go. Mission accomplished. show more

  • At its best, Fury examines the psychological experience of warfare. show more

  • Fury does capture the brutality of war and the misery of life spent largely confined in an armored tank during the war's final weeks, in April, 1945. show more

This is not Saving Private Ryan and it's not fair to compare the two...... Fury is a very powerful movie about the horror of war and it works extremely well on that level. The characters posses a humanity that could have easily been lost in a lesser film. They are flawed, but understandable and their flaws are not "forgiven", but put in a context that makes sense. You feel for each of them as they head for their inevitable fates. This is one of the most powerful movies of the year, with great acting and character development, and with a storyline that should grab your interest. See it.

For me, this movie has no real plot. It's just a rehashing of war on a daily basis. There are only so many ways you can blow up a tank or shoot someone, and this movie does just that scene after scene, over and over. And I suspect there is a zero supply of fake blood now in Hollywood. If anything, this is a predictable and believable study of an old salt sergeant parenting his flock and those under him responding to him as their leader. It seemed a vehicle in which Brad Pitt could shine based on all the children he has at home. Nothing more.
