What undercuts sharper than Poseidon's trident is a script that sees its characters as cardboard, not flesh and blood. For a film meant to be spectacle over substance, it's not a fatal blow. But it is a mortal wound. show more

A popcorn movie has one goal, and that's to entertain. Immortals meets this criteria handily, and serves as a splendid spectacle besides. show more

    Todd McCarthy The Hollywood Reporter

Immortals is not only entirely without humor, but is dominated by a lot of huffing and puffing, thunderous self-importance and windy Socratic quotations about the immortality and divinity of men's souls. You just have to roll your eyes after a while. show more

Despite this new expansion in scale, Immortals lacks the inexorable forward momentum of its role model "300," as well as that movie's audacious, gleeful fascism and oblivious, accidental homoeroticism. show more

Dashing across the screen in all its bloody, gilded glory, the awesome and beautiful Immortals marks an all-win scenario. show more

The film is as faithful to Greek mythology as Thor is to tales of the Norse Gods, but it ultimately doesn't matter. Tarsem's goal is to give viewers an experience a little different from the norm and, to that end, he succeeds. The "wow!" factor is in full evidence. show more

Thrills are in short supply, but so are annoyances. This is a maintenance-free ride. show more

If it's violence ye seek, and violently confused storytelling, look ye no further. show more

The Immortals is without doubt the best-looking awful movie you will ever see. show more

    Washington Post

The movie's self-importance is further inflated by the usual pseudo-Wagnerian score and occasional narration by John Hurt. show more

This movie was excellent! This is great because it shows that even the \"gods\" cant keep bad locked away forever!

I love the movie, I went to see it with my boyfriend. And while any other time I would not go see a movie like this, this one caught my eye and attention. I was ready for a sequel when it ended !

saw it in the budget and wished I had seen it 3D! And I HATE the new 3D trend! this was awesome...gritty and beautiful, all at once.

Excellent movie! Movie based on Greek GODS relationship with humanity. Not sure what others are expecting. The fighting is graphic but that is to be expected.

Do not go see it in 3D. I walked out after 15 minutes because it looked beyond surreal,. To be exact, it looked extremely fake. I loved the movie 300 (on my top 10 list) and I expected a similar experience, but combining surreal filming with 3D did not work for me. I\'m waiting to see it in 2D, and hopefully I can enjoy it more.
