Without the support system of a caring family or close friends, teenager Dawn Cottrell (Kimberlee Peterson) resorts to cutting herself to ease her emotional distress. When another outcast (Taylor Stanley) discovers her self-harm, Dawn finally has someone who can relate, though she still needs therapy. Fortunately, Dawn meets a psychiatrist (Rhea Perlman) who helps her through her disorder -- but Dawn's mother (Sean Young) and fathe (Robert Wisden) don't make the healing process easy.
