Langella delivers a master class in acting. He's playing Leonard Schiller, an aging author aching from the loss of his wife, a weak heart and literary neglect. show more

Brilliant movie. Frank Langella as usual brilliant and so was Lauren Ambrose. I first saw Frank Langella at the Longwharf Theater and his genius has always enthralled me.

For intelligent adults only, who might appreciate it. Mainly for those with love of literature. An elderly male writer and a young, flighty, female who is a literature graduate student, are drawn together by mutual interest and intellect. Is it better to love and lose than not love? Is the pain of possible separation worth the benefit of intimacy? Intelligent conversation will make this one dull to those unable to understand this special film.

This is one of the worst movies we have seen in several years. It seemed to last 4 hours! Terrible dialogue -- very strained. Forget this one.
