Plot Summary
In May 1968, the student riots in Paris only exacerbate the isolation felt by three youths: an American exchange student named Matthew (Michael Pitt) and twins Théo (Louis Garrel) and Isabelle (Eva Green). Having bonded over their mutual love of cinema, Matthew is fascinated by the sense of intimacy shared by Isabelle and Theo, who were born conjoined. When the twins' bohemian parents go away for a month, they ask Matthew to stay at their place, and the three lose themselves in fantasy.

  • The Dreamers may go slack when you most want it to soar, but it also seduces with eroticism and resonates with ideas. show more

  • An ambitious and exciting piece of work, a movie about sex and movies made by a filmmaker who understands the power of each to set off fantasy, create addiction, incite danger and transform the spirit. show more

  • The problem is the letdown you feel when these glorious morsels (film clips and soundtrack) end, and it's back to three morose schlumps. show more

Visual stunning as an offbeat type of movie with interpersonal realationships among the three key actotrs.. Soundtrack music carries the film throughout with various Hendrix tunes and other 60's music. A Hip film with unbridled nudity as to the sister played by Eva Green. The clips of the old movie references makes the film more interesting. The movie does suffer an abrupt ending wondering what happens to the twins as Michael Pitt wanders off in the opposite direction disengaging from the violence and caos of the final scene.
