I did not get this movie at all! I kept waiting for something to happen & for it to get better! It was a psychadelic trip of a movie and I was sober! The only thing that kept me watching till the end is the eye candy of the movie (Johnny Depp & Jude Law).

the special effects where pretty good but the acting and story line was rather boring and complicated (british, need i say more), i did get it but it was like too much nonsense and not enough serious acting. i got it on pay per view for $5 and still wish i'd saved the $5 and waited for it to hit regular tv. take my advise, you won't have to wait long, save your hard earned money and catch it on

I have loved most of Terry Gilliam's movies, but The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus is a lurching, lumbering, near incoherent mess. There are bits that are dazzling visually and Tom Waits as the Devil was a great choice, but I just wish Gilliam had spent more time coming up with a decent script. Fabulous movie. Kept me entertained from beginning to end. It made you think a bit, so for those folks who like movies that need no questioning from its viewers, this one's not for you.

I'm a huge Tom Waits fan, but I just couldn't get into this movie. I think it's one of those films that will not withstand the test of time. One really needs to use their own imagination to understand Terry Gillam's world.

Shot through with a bold, extravagant generosity of spirit, this journey behind the literal and figurative looking glass marks a gratifying return to form for Gilliam. Full Review
Claudia Puig
USA Today
Though rambling and at times self-indulgent, its wit and pageantry, boosted by Heath Ledger's final performance, render it irresistible. Full Review
James Berardinelli
A movie assembled from diverse pieces that don't quite match. It's the cinematic equivalent of a patchwork quilt. Full Review
Kenneth Turan
Los Angeles Times
As unusual and idiosyncratic as its one-of-a-kind title. You'd expect no less from Terry Gilliam, and admirers of this singular filmmaker will be pleased to know that "Imaginarium" is one of his most original and accessible works. Full Review
Lisa Schwarzbaum
Entertainment Weekly
As is so often the case since his "Monty Python" days, Gilliam is best at visual games and weakest at storytelling. Full Review
