An intense and chilling documentary. show more

This is crucial work, evidenced by a line on a wall of R.I.P. graffiti that reads simply, "I am next." This film of common folks fighting the seemingly inevitable is just as moving. show more

The Interrupters is based on a much-acclaimed article in the New York Times Magazine by Alex Kotlowitz, who followed a period of intense violence in Chicago. He joined with James to co-produce the film. It is difficult to imagine the effort, day after day for a year, of following this laborious, heroic and so often fruitless volunteer work. show more

I am from the South Side of Chicago and now serve as a volunteer job coach for young gang affiliated men and women in Denver\'s inner-city. I have witnessed some heartbraeking violence in Denver but none of it holds a candle to what is going on in Chicago. Gang violence is EVERYBODY\'S problem - not just the mostly poor, mostly minority individuals it directly affects. See this movie. Step up and do something. Help save our youth. They ARE yours. Believe that.
