Lackluster and decidedly old-fashioned (in the worst way). show more

While not exactly in the same league as the visually dazzling "Excalibur" and saddled with cheap looking CGI effects, this Anglo-Italian co-production has quite a bit of fun finding a direct path from the fall of Rome to the birth of Arthurian legend. show more

The film is nothing to be ashamed of (especially if you're Kingsley). But it's as if everybody involved knows what the deal is. show more

When a movie wants to be sold as a spectacle, it had better deliver something more spectacular than this. show more

Distinctly humdrum, The Last Legion, a boy's adventure story that seems to have been dragged out of the vaults of some early-sixties TV series. show more

The Last Legion offers guilty-pleasure fun in a cheesy, very De Laurentiis way (much like 1976's Mandingo rip-off Drum), but, in the end, it's just not a very inspired or well-conceived film, despite Kingsley's strangely endearing turn as the proto-Merlin. show more

The movie deserves a lot more than negative criticism.on the whole this could become what one calls a sleeper and become more popular to the masses......just because there was'nt all blood and guts and real violence in this story doesn't mean it is not a good picture............I pity all the critics who only see the visual as some type of disaster................I enjoyed the whole picture and will take the family to see it also.......The cast was also very entertaining as well and the acting just as great..........We need more of these types of films and not just those violent cars chasing cars and shooting to kill actors( just special effects) not really acting.............I say give this film a fair shake for families to see without all the blood

The last Roan legions were witdrawn from Britain in 406 AD.The last Roman Emporer,a teen ager, was deposed by his German bodyguards in 541 AD.Does anyone else see a problem with this time line?Do not expect to learn any history from this movie.

This movie is "ok" but not that great. It had an intriguing story, however the movie fell apart at the end...when the "good guys" confronted the "bad guys". The LAST battle was very short and anti-climactic. The screenplay at the end of the story was sorely lacking. If you want c a good action flick, c "Bourne Ultimatum", for a musical, go c "Hairspray" and for a really great movie that I really highly recommend, go c "Stardust". U will not be disappointed by "Stardust".

This is a very good movie. Just returned from a date with my wife and she thought it was great. A very interesting version of how the Sword in the Stone got there in the first place and how legends get started. Good action, great sword fighting scenes with no gore. Just a very entertaining movie worth paying full price. I'd give it 4 out of 5 stars (however the stars don't seem to be available for submitting--just the written review).
