  • All you really need to know is that The Rover is a modern Western that explodes the terms good and evil; that its desolation is brilliantly rendered by Michôd and cinematographer Natasha Braier; that Pearce and Pattinson are a blazing pair of opposites. show more

  • The Rover, is anything but lively, though it's long on menace, often violent and consistently fascinating. show more

  • Always commanding attention at the film’s center is Pearce, who, under a taciturn demeanor, gives Eric all the cold-hearted remorselessness of a classic Western or film noir anti-hero who refuses to die before exacting vengeance for an unpardonable crime. show more

I am giving it a one because it had an ending. Do not watch this film. I think within the almost 2 hour film 10 words were said. I can never get that time back.

LOVED this brilliant film ! It's a blend of Mad Max, Apocolypse Now,Drive, and a modern -day Of Mice and Men. It's dark , violent, and uncompromising in telling its tale. Guy Pearce is like a feral drifter, a wounded rabid animal still in a rage. He plays his role so strongly. Rob Pattinson is so amazing in his role as a slow, bullied American kid from the South . I thought he was strong in Cosmopolis but this is even better ! He displays incredible range. He is the soul of this film. The journey between these two guys with opposite personalities in such a bleak, post- collapse world IS the story. If you like smart, good, strong films with quality acting , then you'll love this ! David Michod, director of Animal Kingdom and writer/director of this film, knocks it out of the ballpark ! Scenery and music score are SO unique !
