At some point and time in life, a married couple may question why they got married in the first place. In the latest Tyler Perry movie ‘Why Did I Get Married Too’, the same four cou... ples from ‘Why Did I Get Married’ head to the Bahamas to get an answer to that question. They meet back up after three years where they previously vacationed in Colorado. This is where Sheila played by Jill Scott took off her blinders and faced the fact that her husband was scum. On this Colorado trip, she met Troy played by Lamman Rucker. She divorces husband number one, Mike played by Richard T. Jones and remarried Troy. When the couple rejoins the others they have had a baby and moved back to Atlanta where Troy struggles to find a job. Tyler Perry plays Terry married to Dianne played by Sharon Leal. In the first ‘Married’ Dianne and Terry struggled to find time for each other as Dianne climbed the corporate ladder. They have had a son since the last retreat and all seems too good to be true. They meet up with Marcus and Angela played by Michael Jai White and Tasha Smith for the airplane ride to the Bahamas. Not much has changed for Marcus and Angela. Her lack of trust fuels her insecurities and paranoia since Marcus finally got a job as a weekend sports announcer. The couple who seems to have it together is Patricia and Gavin played by Janet Jackson and Malik Yoba. Patricia is a psychologist and an accomplished author in her field. She is also a professor. Gavin is an architect. Everything is wonderful when they arrive in the Bahamas until Mike shows up. Sheila cannot believe his nerve. It is not long before he tries to rekindle what he thought they had. Sheila waste no time setting him straight. Terry and Dianne are all smiles while Marcus and Angela continue their rants. By the end of the week, they have their special dinner to express why they got married. This is where Patricia drops the bomb. She announces to the group that she and Gavin are getting the big ‘D’. Divorced. And cue the fireworks. The movie picks back up where the couples have all returned home. Terry is suspicious to the reason his wife is so much happier these days. Angela is not giving up on catching Marcus in the act of cheating. She thinks she may have the chance when her nosy neighbor informs her about sexual noises coming from her bedroom on specific days of the week. Angela gets ghetto fabulous and makes a huge scene at Marcus’ job while they are taping live. She does not stop there. She leaves work on a specific day to come home and catch Marcus in the act. She listens at the door for the noises then gets a gun from the closet and bust open the door blasting away. Meanwhile, Patricia and Gavin have met with their lawyers to discuss settlements. Patricia is outraged that Gavin would attempt to get money made from her books. Behind closed doors, we find out that Gavin has developed a drinking problem. He suggests to Patricia that he should move out but when she agrees he goes ballistic. Patricia keeps her composure but the next day she shows Gavin how crazy, she can be. As for Sheila and Troy, the job hunting is coming up short. Sheila takes it upon herself to do a little networking of her own. She goes to her ex husband to ask him to put in a good word for Troy. He was so excited to tell Sheila he got the job. When Troy finds out by a coworker, how he got the job, he makes a b-line for Mike’s house. Can you guess who opens the door when he gets there? Sheila. The bad news is Troy hit Mike. The good news is Sheila was being a Good Samaritan by taking Mike to his chemotherapy. If that is not enough drama for you, Terry finally confronts Dianne about her cheating with another man. Dianne admits she is crushing on a coworker but denies any sexual activity. Patricia, on the other hand, has released her inner Angela and goes to Gavin’s’ job for a round of humiliation. Gavin walks to the parking lot and gets in his car with Patricia right behind him screaming. He speeds out into the street and ****** by a truck. Immediately Patricia blames herself. All the couples meet at the hospital where Patricia begs them to fix whatever their problems are before they end up like her. Unfortunately, Gavin does not survive. The movie skips forward a year and Patricia may have a new beginning. I thought the movie was good. Tyler Perry appeals to the African American community as well as other cultures. The thing is every one, no matter the race, has marital problems. This movie points out that our insecurities and suppressed emotions can kill a marriage. In fact, according to an article I read, lack of communication is the number one cause of divorce. Patricia had suppressed the guilt she felt from the death of her son so long she could not feel any love for her husband. Sheila had all the best intentions for helping her husband but should never have gone behind his back, especially to her ex husband. I think Dianne is just a little selfish and takes Terry for granted. Cinematically, the movie is entertaining and enjoyable. The deeper issues addressed in the movie are relatable in reality to many relationships. The movie shows that outrageous behavior never solves a problem and can sometimes cause a greater tragedy. It also shows that ignoring problems does not make them go away. This is Tyler Perry’s way of addressing serious life issues with a dose of laughter. I would not recommend this as a family movie for children under fifteen. I say this because of the domestic violence and sexuality. I believe children are exposed to this enough as it is. I also felt it was more drama than comedy. Angela and her antics provided the most comedy. In all honesty, I know someone who is an Angela. If you do not know an Angela, then it is proba Full Review

Roz Harris I thought the movie was good, however there needs to be a #3. The ending of the movie was just not right! I say this because all throught the first movie Patricia was the level headed one ... who always tried to keep her friends in tact in telling what they should be doing. Also, Gavin always tried to talk to her about their son but she never wanted to to discuss it. Her character was so different. Why did Gavinn have to die? It was Pateicia who seemed to have the problem. And the scene where she comes to his job was outrageous! It kind of threw me off. I think a sequel 3 is order with be a better ending. It could be that Patricia was actually dreaming the part where she went to his job and started a fight with Gavin and he gets killed. She finally wakes up and sees that she has been acting like a bitch, and realizes that she needs to communicate her feelings with Gavin. The couples could actually have a wonderful vacation minus Mike,. Tyler is doing a wonderful job & I do love his movies, however, I'd love to see a sequel to "Why Did I Get Married Too". Full Review

It was ok nothing to spectacular. Love the actors that were in the movie. It was hard to relate like they crammed too much into the movie ...the story line gets lost. As far as Janet Jackson, I don't... think she can act...she can sing but not act; except for the crying scenes. She always does well with the crying scenes. Plus you notice there was no physical interaction/touching except when her husband grabbed her. You never see her interact as husband and wife. Full Review

As an avid Janet Jackson fan, the news of her return in the role of Patricia Agnew was very exciting, and after watching the previews on Tyler Perry's Talkshow with the cast, I was on the edge of my s... eat at the thought of Janet being able to do some real dramatic acting. And Janet was superb! As well as the rest of the cast, especially Tasha Smith in the role of Angela. However, after watching the first "Why Did I Get Married?", I found that in the second something was missing. In the beginning of the movie you know that each couple has their problems, but once they all come together on screen, the intimate relation to the characters is lacking compared to the first. (Perhaps it was because Shela and Troy were the newest couple?) But throughout the movie, I still found that the connection between both the men and women just didn't have that closeness. The movie also felt as though there were far too many storylines going on for just one movie. It was as though they had no choice but to condence it. The flow from the first movie didn't follow over to the second. Despite that, the movie was an emotional rollercoaster especially between Gavin & Patricia's characters (as is a given from the previews). The ending was a bit sudden and after leaving the theatre it left a sour feeling in my stomach. I would recommend this movie, but only to rent. If you want a movie that's going to give you true hope and an uplifting feeling, stick to the first "Why Did I Get Married?". The characters are a bit easier to relate with (Tips from it actually helped my relationship with my fiancee.). Full Review
