The force is strong with "The Force Awakens."

The latest in the "Star Wars" saga was named one of the top 10 movies of 2015 by the American Film Institute. The AFI postponed its annual meeting this year so that its jurors would have a chance to see "The Force Awakens" before casting their ballots. So far, the movie has not appeared on other awards lists, as Disney declined to hold advance screenings.

AFI also announced the top 10 television shows of the year, and that list was dominated by new series, including "Empire" and "Better Call Saul." Here are the full lists for both movies and TV:
