Sara Ramirez Officially Exits 'Grey's Anatomy': See the Beautiful Tributes
Dr. Callie Torres has left the building on "Grey's Anatomy." On the bright side, at least they didn't kill her off. Here's one win against the trope, anyway! But, sadly, it was confirmation to the rumor that actress Sara Ramirez was leaving the show.
Sara had tweeted a "wrap" note in April, which launched suspicion that this was it for Callie. After last night's Season 12 finale, Sara, showrunner Shonda Rhimes, co-star Ellen Pompeo (Dr. Meredith Grey), and fans reacted on Twitter to Callie's official exit/"time off":

She has to feel good about that sweet send-off! And maybe Callie will return someday, if Sara just needed some "time off."
According to Entertainment Weekly, the news of Sara Ramirez's departure comes when five of her costars -- Ellen Pompeo, Chandra Wilson, Justin Chambers, James Pickens Jr., and Kevin McKidd -- are also renegotiating their contracts.
