"Grey's Anatomy" "returns with a vengeance," on January 19, ABC warns in its new promo for Season 13, Episode 10, and the goal is clearly to scare the bejeezus out of fans.

Some of the shots and quotes are recycled from earlier in the season -- all the better to misdirect us! -- but promo seems to want to convince fans that 1) Bailey (Chandra Wilson) will suspend Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) "effective immediately" and 2) Alex Karev (Justin Chambers) will go to jail, possibly for a long time.

Here are some of the promo quotes:

Bailey: "Do you realize what happens if you're convicted of a felony?"

Bailey: "You're suspended. Effective immediately." (A shot of Meredith follows this line, making it seem like Bailey says it to her.)

Meredith: "Thirty years to life!"

Would Alex really get 30 years to life for beating up DeLuca (Giacomo Gianniotti)? Um. Probably not, even in the worst case scenario. Come on. So who is she talking about?

We know the midseason premiere episode, "You Can Look (But You'd Better Not Touch)," will send Bailey, Arizona, and Jo into a maximum security prison to treat a violent teen pregnant girl and her unborn baby. No idea what else might be going on in that episode. The promo shot of those three docs is definitely from Episode 10, but several other images don't seem to be from this episode. This could be one of those standalone bottle eps purely following the maximum security team, and not really addressing the cliffhanger questions.

Check out some photos from the episode, and Jessica Capshaw's take on shooting the "creepy" scenes. Watch it play out Thursday, Jan. 19 on ABC.
