As of March 2017, Grey's Anatomy" for 12 years, and she is finally directing her very first episode this month. Season 13, Episode 18, "Be Still, My Soul," airs Thursday, March 30 with this synopsis:

"When Maggie's mom's health deteriorates, the doctors are at odds over how to treat her. Meanwhile, Richard comes to grips with Bailey's betrayal over the Residency Program."

This episode, directed by and co-starring the Meredith Grey actress, follows two episodes directed by actor Kevin McKidd (Owen Hunt): #JapriltheSequel, airing this Thursday, March 16, and "'Til I Hear It From You" on March 23.

ABC shared a bunch of photos to tease Episode 18, and they all focus on some kind of "family" dinner, featuring Maggie Pierce (Kelly McCreary), her mother Diane Pierce (LaTanya Richardson), Meredith, Arizona Robbins (Jessica Capshaw), Jackson Avery (Jesse Williams), Amelia Shepherd (Caterina Scorsone), Richard Webber (James Pickens Jr.), and Alex Karev (Justin Chambers). A behind-the-scenes photo also shows Debbie Allen (Catherine Avery) in her executive producing role.

Love seeing everyone laughing, even if they're still worried about Maggie's mom. Is it a bad sign that April Kepner (Sarah Drew) is not there? Owen is also absent, which suggests maybe Omelia is still struggling at this point. No Miranda Bailey (Chandra Wilson) either, but the synopsis mentions her, in reference to Webber, so maybe we'll see her before/after this dinner.

ABC added that Richard Lawson is guest starring as Bill Pierce. And Eliza Minnick may not be at the dinner gathering, but actress Marika Dominczyk is also credited for this week.

"Be Still, My Soul," directed by Ellen Pompeo, airs March 30. "Grey's Anatomy" airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. on ABC.
