Monday marked the 14th anniversary of the death of actor John Ritter, and his onetime costar Kaley Cuoco marked the occasion with a sweet social media tribute to her former TV dad.
In a post on Instagram, featuring a black and white photo of the stars smiling for cameras on the red carpet, Cuoco shared her thoughts on the late actor, with whom she starred on ABC sitcom "8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter" (later shortened to "8 Simple Rules" after Ritter's death).
"Today, 14 years ago, we lost one of the best there was," the actress captioned the snap. " ... still not a day goes by where he doesn't make me laugh one way or another."
Cuoco played the titular teen, Bridget Hennessy, on the series, and Ritter played her beleaguered dad, Paul. The show premiered in 2002, and was in production on its second season on September 11, 2003, when Ritter became ill on set, complaining of chest pain and nausea during rehearsal.
The actor was hospitalized later that day, and was initially misdiagnosed with a heart attack; he died that night from complications from an aortic dissection. He was 54.
Ritter's death was written into "8 Simple Rules," which continued for an additional season after his passing. It was canceled by ABC in 2005.
