The 90th Academy Awards, hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, aired Sunday, March 4 on ABC. The award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role was already pretty much assumed to go to Allison Janney for "I, Tonya," based on her previous awards show wins.
The Oscars did not surprise on this point, giving her another win.
Here are all of the nominees in her category:
- Mary J. Blige, "Mudbound"
- Allison Janney, "I, Tonya"
- Laurie Metcalf, "Lady Bird"
- Lesley Manville, "Phantom Thread"
- Octavia Spencer, "The Shape of Water"
Some fans were rooting for Laurie Metcalf to give a win to "Lady Bird," but it was not meant to be. There were no bad options!
