How nice that SOMEONE remembered Jeremy Renner is an original Avenger.

The original "Avengers" pulled a "Lord of the Rings" to get matching tattoos -- as a memento, since they're all leaving soon? It feels like nostalgic gathering, which makes us pre-sad for the big things to come in "Avengers 4."

Robert Downey Jr. shared details on the matching tats, which now adorn the bodies of Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Chris Evans (Captain America), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye), and RDJ himself (Iron Man).

Mark Ruffalo was the one "Avengers" OG to decline joining the gang. In response, they should've offered his spot to Edward Norton, since Ed was the original Marvel Cinematic Universe Hulk with "The Incredible Hulk." Instead, RDJ revealed to Entertainment Weekly that the sixth tattoo went to the tattoo artist himself.

This was all Scarlett's idea, Downey told EW. She and Chris Evans got their tattoos in New York, then "their New York guy, Josh Lord, who is amazing" flew out to Los Angeles to ink Renner and Hemsworth. Then they all drew a line on the tat artist with his tattoo gun to contribute to his sixth tat. Apparently the Avengers can't draw, and "it was a total massacre," with Scarlett's straight line coming out more like a lightning bolt. "It was a mess."

RDJ shared videos after the event, including a shoutout to Chris Evans for missing the gathering. (Chris Hemsworth quipped that they had all the Chrises they needed, and RDJ got a kick of that -- hence the laughing photo above):

The tattoo artist fanboyed out, as one would:

EW also shared a close-up of the tat, as shared by RDJ's wife Susan Downey:

The team has a lot to celebrate, since "Avengers: Infinity War" passed $1 billion at the global box office faster than any previous film in history. "Avengers 4" heads this way next May.
