With a subtitle like "Apocalypse," the upcoming eighth installment of horror anthology series "American Horror Story" was bound to be pretty unsettling. And the first teaser for the new season definitely confirms that suspicion.

The clip, which debuted on social media on Monday, doesn't waste any time in giving viewers the heebie jeebies, opening with a disturbing depiction of a baby in utero -- who's basically the personification of the doomsday clock.

An atomic explosion, melting skulls, some sort of scorpion battle -- it's all here. Like you'd expect anything else from the twisted mind of Ryan Murphy.

"Apocalypse" will be a crossover between seasons one and three of "AHS" ("Murder House" and "Coven," respectively), and feature a bunch of returning stars from throughout the series's run. According to TVLine, they include:

Sarah Paulson (as three characters, including her 'Murder House' and 'Coven' personas); Kathy Bates ; Billie Lourd as Mallory; Leslie Grossman as Coco St. Pierre Vanderbilt; Adina Porter as Dinah Stevens; Evan Peters as a comedic hairstylist (with a grandmother played by 'Dynasty'‘s Joan Collins); Billy Eichner; Cheyenne Jackson; and Emma Roberts as 'Coven'‘s Madison Montgomery. Jessica Lange, who hasn’t been spotted on 'Horror Story' since 'Freak Show' (Season 4) will also return for the sixth episode of Apocalypse, directed by Paulson.

A notable new addition to the cast is Cody Fern, who's playing a grown-up version of Michael Langdon, the evil baby featured in "Murder House." (So is he the fetus that stars in this teaser?)

"American Horror Story: Apocalypse" debuts on FX on Wednesday, September 12 at 10 p.m.
