Netflix's new "Chilling Adventures of Sabrina" is set in the same Archie Comics universe as The CW's "Riverdale," and the two series share Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa as creator.

But, as it turns out, fans won't be getting crossovers "at this time."

As Aguirre-Sacasa told TVLine:

"Right now, we’re trying to make sure that the shows have their own identity and their own set of rules."

Netflix's dark take on Sabrina the Teenage Witch was originally billed as a "Riverdale" spinoff meant to air on The CW. That has obviously changed. There's still potential for a crossover down the line, just not anytime soon.

However, The CW president Mark Pedowitz did tease a real upcoming "Riverdale" spinoff. During the TCA press tour, he said Aguirre-Sacasa had "something in mind" on that front.

Aguirre-Sacasa explained that he hopes to develop the spinoff for next year's 2019-2020 season:

"We’re really excited, but we’re still early on in the process. [I]t will be VERY different from Riverdale."

Any theories on what "Riverdale" characters would be getting a spinoff, and how the show would be so different from "Riverdale"? Some fans are guessing Josie and the Pussycats. Guess we'll see.

"Riverdale" Season 3 premieres October 10 on The CW. "The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina" will start streaming on Netflix on October 26.
