When an actor calls his own character "frazzled," "crazy," and "going a bit insane," you know it's bad.
"Legacies" is The CW's upcoming joint spinoff of "The Originals" and "The Vampire Diaries."
Zach Roerig is returning as Matt Donovan, who ended TVD as the new sheriff in town.
"Legacies" mostly follows the students of The Salvatore School for the Young and Gifted, and apparently Sheriff Donovan is not a big fan. So he and Alaric (Matthew Davis ) are going to draw lines to keep the peace, and that peace may not always hold.
As Julie Plec told Entertainment Weekly of Sheriff Donovan:
"His singular goal is to keep the supernatural business on the DL, if not out of Mystic Falls, and to protect the town. So that puts him continually at odds with Alaric and the kids at the school. He says very clearly in an early episode, ‘If I get so much as a wind of your kids causing any trouble, I will come for them.’ So he’s both friend and antagonist at the same time."
Here's EW's photo of Sheriff Donovan, with Hope Mikaelson (Danielle Rose Russell) and Alaric:
Yeah, not sure about the hair...
Matt Donovan has been changed (beyond hair) by his experience with the supernatural, as any human would be after living for so many years in a town filled with vampires.
"He’s going a bit insane at this point. He kind of went off the deep end. We see him in the future a little more frazzled and a little out of his mind from the vampires. He’s crazy sheriff Matt Donovan."
Poor guy. Check out EW's previous photos showing the Salvatore School for the Young and Gifted students, and Alaric. Don't forget that Jeremy Gilbert is returning for this show, too.
"Legacies" premieres Thursday, October 25, at 9 p.m. ET on the CW.
