"MacGyver" is reportedly saying goodbye to one of its stars.

George Eads has decided to leave the series, according to The Hollywood Reporter's sources. His character, Jack Dalton, will make his exit at some point in 2019. In the meantime, Eads will film his last scenes in early December, Deadline reports.

The departure is disappointing for fans, who have seen Dalton work alongside Angus "Mac" MacGyver (Lucas Till) since the beginning of the series. The two are in their third season of playing operatives working for a secret government organization. However, while MacGyver is apparently losing his partner, the good news is that there's still room for him to return in some capacity in the future. Deadline's sources say that Dalton's character will leave without being killed off.

Eads has reportedly been wanting out of his contract for a while now. The series was initially going to be filmed in Los Angeles, as Deadline reports, but after the pilot, production moved to Atlanta. THR's sources say that he wants to be in LA for family reasons.

Neither Eads nor the network has commented on the reports.

"MacGyver" airs Fridays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on CBS.
