"Luther" fans' patience is finally paying off.

The Idris Elba-starring crime drama is on its way back for Season 5, and the BBC revealed the first trailer on Thursday, Nov. 29. Buckle up for another chilling installment. The preview teased more horrifying murders and a particularly complicated case.

The official Season 5 synopsis specifically teases "a new nightmare" and "a complex tangle of leads and misdirection that seems designed to protect an untouchable corruption." While working to solve the case, DCI John Luther (Elba) is going to have to deal with his own personal demons and play dirty, as the preview shows. We can expect his actions this season to have "devastating consequences," according to the synopsis.

Season 5  comes after a lengthy wait. The acclaimed series' fourth season finale aired in late 2015, meaning it'll be a full three years without "Luther" by the time the upcoming installment arrives. Of course, Elba has been busy in the interim. The actor has added numerous films to his resume, including "Finding Dory," "Star Trek Beyond," and "Avengers: Infinity War," among many  others.

At long last, "Luther" Season 5 will premiere in 2019 on BBC One and BBC America.
