A wilderness survival saga dubbed "Wild" meets "The Revenant" is coming to the big screen, with Ben Affleck attached to star and produce.

Universal won a bidding war for the adaptation of "I Am Still Alive," a YA novel by Kate Alice Marshall.

The story centers on Jess, a teen girl who is sent to live with her long-lost, off-the-grid father (Affleck) in the Canadian wilderness. But when her dad's past comes back to haunt him, she is forced to survive on her own, with only a dog for company. Stranded, alone, and far away from any help, she discovers she's stronger than she ever imagined.

The book was published in July and received positive notice for featuring a young woman as the hero. Lori Taylor Evans ("Bed Rest") is attached to write the script.

Affleck will produce through his Pearl Street Films company. He is currently filming the sports addiction drama "Torrance" and can be seen in next spring's Netflix movie "Triple Frontier."
