Remember when the "Stranger Things "kids dressed up like "Ghostbusters" in a Halloween episode?

Finn Wolfhard, who plays Mike on the '80s-set sci-fi show, is in talks to star in the upcoming "Ghostbusters" movie directed by Jason Reitman.

The studio would not comment on plot details, but sources told Variety that the story will focus on a single mom and her family, with Carrie Coon ("The Leftovers," "The Sinner") playing Wolfhard's mom. Whether they become Ghostbusters themselves remains to be seen.

Since the sequel to is being billed as a continuation of the first two '80s films (and not the femme-centric Paul Feig film), a woman Ghostbuster seems unlikely.

Supposedly, Reitman was reluctant to use anyone from the "Stranger Things" cast (given they've already done "Ghostbusters,") but both he and the executives were "blown away" by Wolfhard’s audition.

Wolfhard recently wrapped Season 3 of "Stranger Things," which will debut on Netflix in July. He'll also be in “It: Chapter 2” this fall, as well as "The Goldfinch" and "The Turning."

Coon played the leader of a cult who was also the overprotective mother of a boy accused of a double murder in the second season of "The Sinner."

Her movie credits include "Gone Girl," "Widows" and "Avengers: Infinity War."
