The upcoming eighth and final season of Showtime series "Homeland" will be especially personal for star Claire Danes: Her real-life husband, actor Hugh Dancy, is set to guest-star in a key role.

Dancy -- who starred on Hulu's "The Path" and NBC's "Hannibal," and has a role in Mindy Kaling's new comedy, "Late Night" -- will appear in a multi-episode arc on the new season of "Homeland." The actor will be playing John Zabel, described as "a beltway consultant who joins the new White House as a foreign policy adviser to the president and butts heads with Mandy Patinkin’s Saul Berenson along the way."

It's unclear how many episodes Dancy will appear in, or if he will act across from Danes in any of them.

This final season of "Homeland" will catch up with Carrie Mathison (Danes) as she recovers from her stint in a Russian gulag, where she spent months in confinement, enduring torture. She's been plagued by memory issues ever since, which poses a problem for Saul, as he requires her assistance engaging the Taliban in peace negotiations.

Sounds like just another typical, ridiculously intense day at the office for these folks.

Season eight of "Homeland" is set to debut on Showtime sometime later this year.
