Next week's "Game of Thrones" is truly dark and full of terrors.

As the preview for Season 8's third episode shows, war comes to Winterfell, as the Night King and his Army of the Dead arrive to wreak death and destruction on the living.

The preview doesn't reveal much. It begins with Sansa saying, "The most heroic thing we can do now is look the truth in the face." There are shots of Grey Worm leading the Unsullied formation, a panicked Arya running through Winterfell, the Hound and Beric Dondarrion (with sword aflame) prowling a hall, and Jon looking weary as he draws his sword.

"The dead are already here," Daenerys ominously declares.

That last line is particularly troubling, since it could be interpreted as referencing Winterfell's crypts — where the women, children, and otherwise defenseless will be hiding for safety.

But as many on Twitter have pointed out, the Night King and his White Walkers raise dead people. And the crypt is full of dead people.

"Game of Thrones" airs Sundays at 9 p.m. on HBO.
