"When you play the game of thrones, you win or you die. There is no middle ground."

HBO's trailer for "Game of Thrones" Season 8, Episode 5 promises the bloody battle for the Iron Throne we've been waiting for between the Dragon Queen, Daenerys Targaryen, and the Lion Queen, Cersei Lannister.

And Daenerys also may live up to her father's name and become the Mad Queen after the events of this week's episode [SPOILERS AHEAD] — the deaths of her dragon Rhaegal and her longtime advisor/translator Missandei.

The trailer features no dialogue, so not much can be divined from it. It seems Daenerys does take time to regroup after the initial strike that took out Rhaegal, since Jon Snow has caught up to her forces on the road.

Director Miguel Sapochnik returns for the penultimate episode of the series, after helming Episode 3's "The Long Night." Cast members have hinted that this battle is even bigger and more show-stopping than the one waged against the Night King's Army of the Dead.

"Game of Thrones" airs Sundays at 9 p.m. on HBO.
