Aquaman - Descent into Atlantis' Lost History
Mera:
One of the tribes of Atlantis broke off and settled here when this region was still an inland sea. When the water dried up, they perished along with it.
Arthur:
Perished? Yeah, that's terrific.
Mera:
We're getting close now.
Arthur:
Oh, yeah? Close to what? Dying of thirst?
Mera:
Close to getting punched in the face!
Arthur: [[w:Fight Club|Fight Club]
Look, ], I know you're new to how things work up here. Why don't you look around? We are lost. You see that over there? Hey, what is that? Nada. This place is a wasteland.
Mera:
You're the one who calls this wasteland a home.
Arthur:
This isn't my home! It's not like the whole surface looks like this!
Mera:
Oh, no, of course not. You've also got disgusting cities whose sewers empty out into our ocean and whole mountains made out of trash. And, oh, you've got great factories that do nothing but belch out filth and melt ice caps.
Arthur:
Okay. Point taken. Listen. Yeah, we got some idiots running the show, but we've got some good things too, all right? We got green forests and big mountains beautiful lakes. You'd love em. They're like little baby oceans.
Mera:
Are you trying to provoke me?
Arthur:
I'm just saying you cannot judge a place before you've even seen it.
Mera:
You've judged Atlantis on far less.
Arthur: [''Runs to Mera holding up tracker''; ''Slaps it out of her hand''; ''Falls through sinkhole'']
No. Would you just stop it with that? No. Your stupid Atlantean GPS just told you to jump out of an airplane over the middle of the desert, and now we are stranded.
Mera: [''Jumps in after him'']
If you're the next true king, we're doomed.
Arthur:
That was awesome. Oh. Look what I found.
Mera:
What you found?
Arthur:
Yeah. Check this place out. This is badass!
Mera:
This is the Hall of Armory. Where the legends say Atlan's trident was forged.
Arthur:
I don't think they're legends anymore.
Mera: [''Walks up to hologram player and plugs in a cylinder'']
Vulko was right. It's real. Huh. Noting.
Arthur:
Of course it's not working. It's been sitting here collecting dust since before the Sahara was a desert. Man!
Mera:
Since before the Sahara was a desert.
Arthur:
Thank you for repeating what I just said.
Mera:
It's completely dried out. Let's just say you do your best thinking when you're not thinking at all. All right, now hold still.
Arthur:
Hey. What are you doing?
Mera:
We need water, and you're the closest source. Now, hold still.
Arthur:
Hmm. Show-off. I could have just peed on it.
Mera:
King Atlan.
King Atlan:
In this trident resides the power of Atlantis. In the wrong hands, it would bring destruction. But in the hands of the true heir, it would unite all our kingdoms above and below. If you seek my power, you must prove your worth. Journey beyond the edge of the world to the Hidden Sea. Look inside the bottle for the charted path. Only in the hands of the true king can he truly see.
Mera:
Hmm. We can't let Orm find this.
Arthur:
Hey! Wait!
Mera:
What?
Arthur:
Shouldn't we have written it down first?
Mera:
I memorized it. Didn't you?
Arthur:
Oh, yeah. Totally.
Mera:
What'd he just say?
Arthur:
Something something trident.
Mera:
Look inside the bottle for the charted path.
Arthur:
It's our next stop.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey - Unexpected Introductions in The Hobbit
Dwalin: [bows]
Dwalin, at your service.
Bilbo: [Dwalin walks in]
Uh, Bilbo...Baggins. At yours. Do we know each other?
Dwalin:
No. Which way, laddie? Is it down here?
Bilbo:
Is what down where?
Dwalin:
Supper. He said there'd be food and lots of it.
Bilbo:
He said? Who said?
Dwalin:
Very good, this. Any more?
Bilbo: [finds a jar of seed-cakes; pauses as Dwalin eats away]
What? Oh, uh, yes, yes. Help yourself. It's just that, um, I wasn't expecting company.
Dwalin:
That'll be the door.
Balin: [smiles and bows]
Balin, At your service.
Bilbo: [blankly]
Good evening.
Balin:
Yes, it is. Though I think it might rain later. Am I late?
Bilbo:
Late for what?
Balin: [catches Dwalin trying to get more scones out of another jar]
OH! Evening, brother!
Dwalin: [sets down the jar and smiles]
Ho ho, by my beard! You are shorter and wider than last we met.
Balin:
Wider, not shorter. Sharp enough for both of us.
Bilbo:
Excuse me? Sorry, I hate to interrupt, but the thing is I'm not entirely sure you're in the right house. It's not that I don't like visitors. I-I like visitors as much as the next hobbit, but I do like to know them before they come visiting. The thing is...uh...the thing is, I don't know either of you, not in the slightest. I don't mean to be blunt, but I had to speak my mind. I'm sorry.
Balin: [suddenly noticing that Bilbo was talking; smiles, to Bilbo's growing confusion]
Apology accepted.
Fíli:
Fíli.
Kíli:
And Kíli.
Fíli and Kíli: [bowing]
At your service.
Kíli:
You must be Mr. Boggins!
Bilbo: [tries to shut the door]
Nope! You can't come in; you've come to the wrong house.
Kíli: [pushes it open with his foot; deflated]
What? Has it been cancelled?
Fíli:
No one told us.
Bilbo:
Ca-? No, nothing's been cancelled.
Kíli: [smiles]
That's a relief!
Fíli: [tosses Bilbo their blades]
Careful with these. I just had em sharpened.
Kíli:
It's nice, this place. You do it yourself?
Bilbo: [sees Kíli rubbing his shoes on the furniture]
Well, no, it's been in the family for years- That's my mother's glory box! Could you please not do that?
Dwalin:
Fíli, Kíli, come on. Give us a hand.
Kíli: [smiling at the sight of Dwalin]
Mr. Dwalin.
Balin: [about the table]
Let's shove this in the hallway. Otherwise, we'll never get everyone in.
Bilbo: [surprised; doorbell rings again, Bilbo is getting rather cross as he heads for the door.; louder, tossing the knives to the floor; chuckles sarcastically; opens the door and eight dwarves (Dori, Nori, Ori, Óin, Glóin, Bifur, Bofur, and Bombur) fall down on top of each other. Gandalf stands behind looking at Bilbo; with an irritated look on his face]
He - "Everyone"? How many more are there? Oh no. No, no. There's nobody home! Go away and bother somebody else! There's far too many dwarves in my dining room as it is! I-I-If this is some...clot-head's idea of a joke... ...I can only say. It is in very poor taste! Gandalf.
