Janno Pelias Biography
John Laurian Pelias, or Janno (b. 2004), is a Filipino filmmaker, studying Bachelor of Arts in Film at the De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde. He aims to mirror his inner sentiments to film, pulling directly from memory and life history, and staying grounded to what is deeply close to him, to reflect a wider, collective Filipino experience. His debut documentary short Sa Wakas, Kasama (2024) won Best Documentary at Cinema Primera Regional Film Festival 2024 and was a part of the Exhibition Films Category at the 11th Nabunturan Independent Film Exhibition.
It also garnered international acclaim, receiving an Honorable Mention at the DocuJam: A Youth Film Festival 2024 in New York, and an Official Selection at the 1st Janakpur International Film Festival in Nepal.
