Jess Cagle

Jess Cagle (born August 8, 1965) is one of the most prominent and respected entertainment journalists in America. As Editor-in-Chief of People magazine (2014-2019), he grew its audience to 100 million across print, digital and video, and led People's successful expansion into television. Known as one of the highest-ranking, longest-serving and most well-liked magazine editors in the media business, he left his job as Editorial Director on March 31, 2019, the day his contract ran out, after 32 years with the entertainment group.

He joined Time Inc in 1987 as a reporter for People. In 1990, he helped launch Entertainment Weekly. He covered the entertainment industry as a senior editor at Time from 2000 to 2002, and returned to People as entertainment editor. He served for five years as Editor of Entertainment Weekly (2009-2014), where he increased EW's audience and presence in Hollywood, transformed EW.

com into a 24/7 breaking news site, and launched the Entertainment Weekly Radiochannel on SiriusXM, where he continues to make regular appearances. He was named Editorial Director of PEOPLE and Entertainment Weekly in January 2014. He is known for People Magazine Investigates (2016) and Oscars Opening Ceremony: Live from the Red Carpet (2015).

Jess frequently appears on Good Morning America, Today, and CBS This Morning shows. In addition, he has co-hosted the official ABC Academy Awards red carpet preshow six times. Over the span of his career, Cagle has interviewed Hollywood’s biggest celebrities. He has appeared on TV shows. He hosted The Jess Cagle Show on SiriusXM and The Jess Cagle Podcast with Julia Cunningham, a weekly podcast featuring interviews with the biggest names from TV, movies, and music.
