Kate Reid, BSC, is a director of photography whose work spans high-end television, feature films, and documentaries. Her credits include Season 2 of the Apple TV+ series Silo and Steven Knight's adaptation of Great Expectations for FX/BBC, starring Olivia Colman. She lensed the HBO series The Baby, collaborating with Emmy-winning director Nicole Kassell, and also worked on The Nevers (HBO), earning a 2022 ASC Award nomination for Best Cinematography in a non-commercial television series.

Other notable television work includes additional photography on the acclaimed Game of Thrones episode "The Long Night", the first season of Amazon Prime's Hanna, BBC One's Press—where she served as series DP—and Netflix's Marcella. Kate's narrative films have screened at top international festivals including Sundance, Berlin, and SXSW. She has received numerous awards for her short films, including Best Cinematography honours for her work on Nazi Boots, directed by Debs Paterson, which won at the Underwire Festival.

Her documentary credits are equally impressive, including Ava DuVernay's "Venus Vs." and the Emmy-winning "Years of Living Dangerously," as well as Karen Guthrie's critically acclaimed "The Closer We Get." Across genres, her work reflects a strong command of visual language and an unwavering focus on emotional storytelling. Kate was named one of Screen Daily & The British Film Commission's Next Generation UK Film Award contenders in 2020, and in 2018 was featured in Definition Magazine's 'Ascending Stars of Cinematography'.

That same year, she was invited to join the British Society of Cinematographers (BSC), and she is also a full voting member of BAFTA. Kate trained at the prestigious National Film and Television School, earning an MA in Cinematography with the support of the Freddie Francis Scholarship. She also studied film and digital media at the University of California, Santa Cruz, and holds a BA in English Literature and Theatre Studies from Leeds University.

Her early industry experience includes work as a camera assistant on major feature films such as Batman Begins and The Brothers Grimm, which laid the foundation for her distinctive visual style.
