Melina Perez Biography
Melina PerezÂ is aÂ Mexican-AmericanÂ model,Â professional wrestler,Â valet, andÂ actress. She is best known for her time withÂ World Wrestling EntertainmentÂ under the ring nameÂ Melina. She is a former three-timeÂ Women's ChampionÂ and a two-timeÂ WWE Divas Champion. Perez started her career as aÂ beauty pageantÂ contestant, winning Miss Hawiaiian Tropics Anaheim.
In Perez's modelling career, she has won many modelling competitions such as the Group USA Bridal Show, Group USA Fashion Show, and Ms. California Belleza Latina. In 2000, Perez began herÂ professional wrestlingÂ career signing with theÂ independent circuit, where she began her training atÂ Jesse Hernandez'sÂ School of Hard KnocksÂ inÂ San Bernardino, California, and made her official wrestling debut in 2002.
Â In late 2002, Perez auditioned forÂ World Wrestling Entertainment'sÂ reality showÂ Tough Enough III, but was eliminated in first round,Â and was afterwards inspired byÂ Al SnowÂ to continue pursuing her wrestling career. In March 2004, Perez signed a developmental contract withÂ World Wrestling Entertainment, and was assigned toÂ Ohio Valley WrestlingÂ (OVW), WWE'sÂ developmental territory,Â where she began managingÂ Johnny NitroÂ andÂ Joey Mercury, later naming theÂ tag teamÂ MNM.
Â In November 2004, Perez managed the team to victory to become theÂ OVW Southern Tag Team Champions.Â Also in November, while still in OVW, Perez made appearances on WWE'sÂ RawÂ show as part of a DivaÂ lingerieÂ show,Â and in December 2004, participating in aÂ limboÂ contest.Â Back in OVW, MNM dropped the tag titles in January 2005 after a two-month reign.
