T. S. Balaiah Biography
Tirunelveli S. BalaiahÂ (August 22, 1914 â€“ July 22, 1972) was a Tamil film actor best known for playing supporting roles in theÂ Tamil filmÂ industry. He was introduced to the cine field by directorEllis R. DunganÂ inÂ Sathi LeelavathiÂ (1936), along with MGR, N.S.Krishnan and M.K. Radha. He was one of the very few actors who excelled as a villain, as well as in character roles and comic roles.
Among his villain roles,Â AmbikapathyÂ (1937),Â Madurai VeeranÂ (1956),Â Hello Mr. Zamindar,Â andThiruvilayadal (1965)Â were classics. Balaiah also excelled in comedy roles in movies such asKavalai Illatha ManithanÂ (1960),Â Kaadhalika NeramillaiÂ (1964),Â Bama VijayamÂ (1967) andÂ Thillana MohanambalÂ (1968). ActorÂ Sivaji GanesanÂ had once mentioned that Balaiah was his most admired actor.
