Released in 1976 to mark the country's 200th birthday, the film's five chapters deal with screen representations of family life, war, the American city, faith and the nation's diverse natural landscape. The film captures Marlon Brando, James Dean, Elizabeth Taylor, Katharine Hepburn, John Wayne and dozens of other stars.
