Plot Summary

This movie is based on the true story of Bill Sackter (Mickey Rooney), a developmentally disabled adult who has been confined to an institution for most of his existence. The good-natured Bill finally gets to enjoy a measure of freedom after Barry Morrow (Dennis Quaid), a documentary director, invites him to stay with his family. While the Morrows have plenty to teach their mentally challenged friend about life, Bill also has his own brand of wisdom to impart.
