Plot Summary
Kurt Cobain said he stole their riffs; Bono was a major fan. Indie rock band the Pixies have been hugely influential ever since their unique sound made them college radio station favorites in the late 1980s. In 1993, however, creative disputes led the group to break up. This documentary follows the Pixies as they get together for their wildly successful 2004 reunion tour. • The film doesn't dwell on bad feelings, and anyone looking for lurid details won't find them. But fans will love the live footage of this still-powerful band ripping through a virtual greatest-hits set. show more

  • Fortunately, there are many concert sequences to keep the film from being more than one awkward silence after another, and onstage the Pixies still sound great. But watching the movie is not as much fun as listening to the old records. show more

  • As Nirvana's Kurt Cobain acknowledges in the opening quote, without the Pixies there would be no "Smells Like Teen Spirit." show more
